Introduction to R for Statistical Analysis

Do you want to learn about R but don’t know where to start? This workshop is for you! R is a popular free software program used for quantitative analysis in both the humanities and sciences. Many state-of-the-art models and various graphs are available in R. This introductory level R workshop discusses the R & RStudio environment, basic data preparation and management, descriptive statistics, and common statistical analysis (T-test, ANOVA, correlation, etc).

This workshop is designed for beginners who have no or little experience in R and with opportunities for hands-on experience with sample data. Join us for this workshop and start your data analysis with R!

Pre-workshop setup

Please bring a laptop with the R and RStudio installed before the workshop.

  1. Download and install R:

  2. Download and install RStudio:

    • Visit the RStudio web page to choose the RStudio version you want to download and install.
  3. Download the data for this workshop and save it in a folder of your preference

    • Data is available here. You have to extract the csv files from data.rar

    • CarbonDioxideEmission.csv - contains data about the emission of carbon dioxide

    • GlobalLandTemperaturesByCountry.csv - contains data about earth average temperature on a certain date
