Day 3: Tools and Workflows in QGIS + Story Maps

Today will cover two distinct topics: in the morning, we will return to QGIS to explore common tools and workflows useful for map making. In the afternoon, you will be introduced to two platforms for making multi-media narratives that combine maps, text, pictures, and audiovisuals into an interactive, web-based story.

Morning Session 9am - 12

• How to add a basemap to a QGIS project
• Common vector tools useful in map making
• Using Time Controller to display temporal events
• Creating Radial Flow maps
• Georeferencing

Afternoon Session 1:30pm - 4pm

• Creating multi-media Story Maps using ArcGIS StoryMaps, as well as its open-source alternate, Knightlab StoryMap.
