Tools and Workflows in QGIS

This morning’s lesson will address the following:

1. How to add a basemap to a QGIS project
2. Common vector tools useful in map making
3. Georeferencing historical maps
4. Displaying temporal events using Time Controller
5. Creating radial flow maps

We will be working in a “sandbox” QGIS project. A sandbox is a project with an assortment of data made for you to play around with. Navigate to the project sandbox.qgz inside the folderdhsi-workshop/Day3/tools-and-workflows and Open it now.

You’ll notice most of the sandbox data is from our reference mapping lesson. Additionally, there is transit data from the City of Montreal. Inside the data folder but not loaded to the map is more data you can practice with.
